Hi there, I may have contacted you before, your posting sounds vaguely familar to me, but just in case, here is a suggestion for you. When we were on the road back in the 1940s we always read Billboard magazine. It listed all the carnivals and circuses and where they were playing that week. It also listed job openings and openings for vendors. As I recall, Billboard was also used as a mailing address, sort of a "general delivery" for people and they would hold your mail for you because show folks moved around so much, usually on a weekly basis.Do you know for sure that your uncle worked for Billboard, or could it be he was using them as a forwarding address? Anyway show folks in the "off season" usually went back to their hometowns or to a warmer state such as Florida. He may have died in his hometown or Florida, but if he died on the road and the show he was with didn't have an address for his family, there is no telling where he is buried. Some folks in their travels sometimes saw a place they really liked and returned there to live, others never did settle down in one spot, although occasionally they might meet a local gal or guy and just stay there. I know this post won't be of much help to you, but you might keep looking up obits in each state. (Quite a job to say the least!) Anway, good luck in your search!
