Since my original post in March 2000 I've found a few more facts about "my" Myron Sheldon.
*Born abt 1832. Some records say in Londonderry, VT.
*His marriage to Laurinda Mercy Thompson occured in Londonderry, Windham, Vermont in 1856
*Moved to Elk Point, South Dakota before 1864
*Daughter Lillian F. born 1856
*Enlisted non-commissioned officer (Cpl)15th Oct. 1862 at Elk Point under Lt. Clark; discharged 1865
*Son Fred was born 1864
*Son Harry W. born 1871
*Son Joseph E. born 1875
*Last name listed incorrectly on 1870 US Census as "Shelden"; also wife's name misspelled as "Lorinda"
*Residence in 1890: Pullman, Whitman, Washington
*Died in Moscow, Idaho 6th Aug. 1897

I still do not know who his parents were and/or if he had any siblings. If you have any information about "my" Myron Sheldon, I'd appreciate knowing it. Thanks, Liz.
