Gardner Stillman Moulton
I am descended through William’s brother Louis. He is my Great Grandfather on my maternal Grandmother’s side, his daughter Margaret Helen Moulton Davis. If anyone has any information about the parents or siblings of William S Moulton, please contact me or post here. I am trying to paste together the family tree more accurately.
His parents were Gardner or Gardnes S Moulton (father) born in 1840 in Maine or Vermont and Rosie, Rosanna Robles or Rosinda Robles (mother) born in 1860 in Grass Valley or San Mateo, California.
In the 1900 Federal Census, it lists 11 children born to the marriage but I can only find 8 children on the list. I am having problems locating anything prior to that date on her. The children listed are John S. Moulton, GardnerS. Moulton Jr., Louis S. Moulton, Clara Moulton, Willie (I believe this to be William) S. Moulton, Walter Moulton, and the twins (Deney and Sampson Moulton). The twins don't appear again on ANY census records and so I assume they died.
On the 1910 Federal Census it lists a Henry Young as a grandson to Gardner and Rosie Moulton, but where does he fit into the family. I believe it is his mother, who was a Moulton, but which daughter is unknown or what happened to her and her husband.
The middle initial S, I believe to be Stillman for the boys. I think that it might be a maiden name of someone possibly Gardner S Moulton Sr’s mother. I don’t have anything beyond Gardner SR on the Moulton side of the family.
Any confirmed info would be nice. Rosie's father could be Benito or Benjamin Robles and mother Francisca Rodriguez, but I am not sure about that. I am looking for any type of conformation or information about either of these two individuals and the 11 children they had. I known that neither her parents were natural born citizen of this country. A letter which has made its way to me through my
I believe that the families (Robles and Moulton) settled in Grass Valley California and Rosie may have lived there her entire life. I believe that she is descendent from the Robles in Branciforte during the 1800s. Yes that would put her related to the infamous Robles of Santa Clara.
Thanks
Helen
