DEATH of HON. GILBERT A. GRANT -- Hon. Gilbert A. GRANT, of San Francisco, died in that city on Monday, 30th Dec. He was a native of Vermont, and came to California in 1849. As a Republican candidate for the State Senate in 1857, he ran ahead of his own party vote, 7890, showing he was held in high estimation by even his political opponents.
