RUTLAND, [VERMONT].

-At the annual meeting of Trinity Church Monday evening the vestrymen elected were: G.R. Bottum, L.G. Kingsley, Orlando Wooster, J.N. Woodfin, E.L. Temple, B.H. Burt, C.E. Ross, H.H. Baxter, and G.T. Chaffee. The rector appointed G.R. Bottum senior warden and vestry elected L.G. Kinglsey junior warden. They also elected J.N. Woodfin treasurer, Orlando Wooster clerk, and Charles Turner auditor.

-Richard Sheldon had a narrow escape from death at Center Rutland Monday. He went to the Center to see the falls, and went upon the D. & H trestle to obtain a better view of the waters. He started from the east end of the structure to walk over. A Delaware & Hudson train came rushing across when he had made about half the distance. There was no way to get off the bridge, and no chance to stop the train, and the hundreds of spectators who were watching the falls from the road expected to see him cut to pieces. But Sheldon laid down on the ends of the sleepers and grasped them firmly while the train rushed by within a few inches of his body. He then got up and resumed his
