Joseph married Rebecca Brown and they had eight children. Their 4th child was Sarah Hurlbut b. unknown d. unknown. Sarah Hurlbut married John Baker b. 1681 d. 1750. They had two children :

Mary Baker b. 1708 d. 1774, married Joseph Allen on March 11, 1736. Mary (Baker) Allen and Joseph Allen had six children:

1) Ethan Allen b. January 10, 1737, by the old style calendar b. January 21, 1738, by present day calendar

Ethan Allen was the oldest of eight children in the family . Ethan Allen married Mary Bronson June 23, 1763 in Woodbury, Litchfield, Connecticut. They had five children three of them died before reaching adulthood. Mary (Bronson) Allen died in 1783. His second wife was Frances (Fanny) Montresor and she was married to Captain John Buchanan when she was 15 years old. Fannyís marriage to Buchanan didnít last long. Ethan Allen lived in Bennington, Vermont, when he began to court Fanny. They married February 9, 1784, and lived in Bennington, Vermont, then moved to Burlington, Vermont. After only five years of marriage Ethan died at the age of 51.
