I am looking for data on Clark Vaughan (b. abt 1790, MA) and his wife Betsy (b. abt 1792, VT).
Clark Vaughan is enumerated in the 1850 and 1840 censuses for Burlington, Chittenden, VT. He is also enumerated in the 1830 census for Franklin, Franklin, VT.
In the 1850 Census, an Edgar Vaughan (b. abt 1823, Canada) is also enumerated in the home as is Martha (b. abt. 1833, VT). I assume that Edgar is the son of Clark and Betsy. I do not know if Martha is the daughter of Clark and Betsy or the wife of Edgar.
I also believe it likely that Clark and Betsy are the parents of Ellen L. (Vaughan) Prentiss (b. Oct. 1820, VT). Ellen married Clark Prentiss (b. abt 1816, VT). In the 1850 Census, Ellen and Clark Prentiss are shown living just a few doors away from Clark and Betsy Vaughan. In the 1900 Census, Ellenís parents are listed as being from MA and VT which is consistent with the information for Clark and Betsy Vaughan. Ellen L. Vaughan is my 4G Grandmother.
I think that it is possible that Clark Vaughan is Clark Rogers Vaughan, son of Jabez Vaughan and Patience Rogers. Clark Rogers Vaughan was born 12 Sep 1791 in Hancock, Berkshire, MA. There is another Clark Rogers Vaughan (b. abt 1795, Quebec, Canada) who is the son of David Vaughan and Alice Rogers. David is the brother of Jabez and Alice is the sister of Patience. Hence, there is a high likelihood of confusing data between the two Clarks.
Enumerated in the 1830 Franklin, Franklin, VT census with Clark Vaughan are David, Ira B, and Tytus Vaughan. These names are consistent with family members of Clark Rogers Vaughan.
Any info would be appreciated. I am happy to share any information I have.
