John Smith c1750s-c 1830s Leicester & Brandon

Am trying to construct the origins, family, and resting place of John Smith. He was b. ca. 1750s and d. in the 1830s, location unknown. He first lived in Whiting in the 1780s and relocated to Leicester prior to 1790. His claim to fame is that he started construction of the iron furnace in Forestdale in the 1820s. He sold out before it was completed. He had at least three sons, Richard, Isaac, and Freeman.
Have consulted compiled sources, and vital records & land records in Leicester and Brandon. No definite answers. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill Powers
