Chauncey Moor (Moore) Family Bible
Posted by: Dick Bain Date: October 09, 2001 at 10:31:43

According to a 1929 letter to my grandfather from his aunt, Mamie Moore (born Marion Helen Amidon) of Middlebury, VT, the family bible of Dr. Chauncey Moor (1771-1837) was destroyed in a fire in 1928 when his great-grandson Ernest Moore's house burned. Mamie said that prior to that she had copied the Moor family record from the bible and that she had the only record of the Moor ancestry.

Does anyone have this information or know of its whereabouts? Mamie was very interested in family history and most likely would have passed that information down to her children or nieces and nephews. Mamie's children were Fordyce Milo Moore, Maynard Cleveland Moore, and Milo Kinsley Moore, Jr.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dick Bain
