More information that I have discovered. William was first married to a lady named Jane. Jane was the recipient of his pension as late as the 1880s.
Also, William was in the army and mustered out 1860 to IL.
Also, William and Mary Ann WILLIAMS were married at Fort Smith, AR 1845 or 1846.
It appears that William either did not divorce his first wife, Jane. . .OR the divorce papers were lost somehow. Mary Ann applied for William's pension but it turns out Jane was getting it c1880.
