Wow, you have been very busy and collected some amazing information. Nice work!! Here is some new information since we last talked.

A cousin of mine found our William VREDENBURG on the War Department papers to the Commissioner of Pensions: William Vredenburgh Co. D. 6 U. S. Inf. was Enl. June 19/40 at New York, N>Y> Dischrd, June19/45 at Fort Smith, Ark. Exp. of service- a fifer. Enlisted Aug. 20/45 at Fort Towson, C. N. in the Band 6th U.S. Inf. Dischd. Aug. 20/50 Exp. of service - at Fort Snelling, Minn. - a pvt. no later recrd. This was in her copy of Mary Ann COURTNEY's pension papers that she got in 1990 and 1992.

Also, in pension papers Mary Ann COURTNEY says that her husband William VREDENBURG drowned about 1848. Well, it appears that my William was married again 1852. Jane Vredenburgh was pensioned as the widow of William Vredenburgh Musician, Band of 6th US Inf under Ctf. #1,812. (Mex. War). The papers in the claim show that Vredenburgh r'cd May 14/75 and that the widow r'cd and was last paid to Feb 4, 1900. This pensioner showed marriage to Vredenburgh Dec. 15, 1852. This is initialed W.A.H.

Mary Ann WILLIAMS VREDENBURG COURTNEY's pension to William VREDENBURG was denied because he was married to this Jane VREDENBURG.
