Thank you for the link. Unfortunately, I had most of the information found there. I rarely use Family Search, so I'm not familiar about adding/changing things. My line from James Jay and Mary Voss is through daughter Mary Jay who married John Calvin Caddell. He is listed as "John Caldwell Cadwell" on Family Search. They both died in Cherokee County, Alabama. I have only one documented child of the marriage but I know there were others.

All I have about Voss is Mary, her husband, her children, and her death information. She was the first wife of James Jay and the mother of all of his children. He went on to marry 2 more times. Her possible father, Joseph, is only a guess.

The only information I have for Joseph Voss is:

North Carolina; Orange County Census
Early Tax Records, 1755-1779
1755 Vause, Joseph
1755 Vouse, Joseph

I literally stumbled upon this while I was looking for information on another family line. Do you have anything provable about this man? children? land records? etc. I couldn't find any further mention of him. Message #1057 on Genforun North Carolina, Mecklenburg Forum is about Joseph, but I didn't follow up on it. It is interesting reading.

I haven't looked at the Voss line in several years. I got discouraged when I could find absolutely nothing and went to work on some other folks that had more documentation. I could get back into it very easily if there are some new ideas.

Thanks again for the information and I'll keep Mr.Voss in mind.
