I should have said James Vaulx, son of Robert who came to VA was probably born in England. Some writers have speculated James was a 4th brother. Indeed, James "Medicus" had a son James b.c. 1607/08, but I have found no evidence of a James in the VA records until the 1660s. The first record I have found is 16 Apr 1664 when he witnessed a document in which Elizabeth Vaulx discharged William Gantlett from a debt under an old bill. I believe this is the man called "Mr. James Vaulx" whose death is recorded in the register of Bruton parish on 4 Nov 1677. The church is still standing in Williamsburg, VA. He must have been wealthy because Bruce, in his "Economic History of Virginia," states that his estate was the largest estate brought before the the York County court in the interval between 1672 and 1690. His wife Elisheba was involved with the administration of his estate. There is a record which says that Robert Vaulx of Dorchester County, MD was "ye apparent heir to james Vaulx of York County, in Virginia, deceased." James certainly had children in VA but their names are not given. This is proved by the York County records in which there is a mention "of what estate doth of right belong to the orpht [orphans] of ye said Mr. Vaulx."
