Yes, I believe it is....
Nicholas Voss (?-circa 1816), son of Edward Voss Sr. of Culpeper County VA and Elizabeth Brooke of Essex County VA, was a highly successful commercial brickmaker and contractor, as was his father before him.
Nicholas married Mary Spotswood (?-1800), granddaughter of VA Governor Alexznder Spotswood and daughter of Capt. John Spotswood the Younger of "Orange Grove," Orange County VA, on 9 May 1794. The marrriage took place at "Orange Grove." Mary Spotswood Voss died aged twenty-eight. See her obit, Fredericksburg VA VIRGINIA HERALD, 18 Feb 1800, p. 3, col. 1. Nicholas and Mary had five known children.
Nicholas married for a second time on 14 December 1809, to Catharine DeLaFayette Richards (?-?), daughter of Captain William Richards (circa 1755-1817) of Culpeper County VA. The marriage took place in Culpeper County. I have no information on any offspring. I have never found a copy of the wedding announcement that reportedly appeared in the Fredericksburf VA VIRGINIA HERALD.
Nicholas Voss died circa 1816; no obituary has been found. His widow Catharine Richards Voss later married Lawson Barnett of Culpeper County Va on 22 February 1822. What became of her after that is not known to me.
I would be delighted to hear from anyone with information on Nicholas Voss or either of his wives.
