Reinhold Pfennighausen was my great-grandfather, my grandfather was Godferd Pfennighausen who changed his name to Penning
My grandmother said that my great-grandfather was a Polish Count who was an officer in the Prussian Guards. I thought his name was von Paulavitch (sp). My great uncle Otto had a decoration he had received.
The story we heard was that he (Reinhold) had taken the Pfennighausen name when he came to the U.S.A.
