Your documented dates are correct comparing them to my records.
Jean Joseph had a sister Catherine bn Dec 23, 1801. and she married Jean Titus of New Orleans about 1824. she died not long after leaving no heirs. She and her husband had mortgaged his wifes share of her inheritance and after her death, Jean Joseph paid the debts to get her share of the property. I believe that this property was sold later. It was small and described in Jean's will. Sort of a shack. The Succession of Jean Voisin is located in Plaquemines Parish courthouse in Pointe a la Hache. It is in French.
Another fact is that Jeanne Amelie Clause who md Jean Joseph was lost in the 1856 Last Island storm. What is curious is that a child or daughter is also mentioned as being lost. No record has been found on her. But the local culture of Bayou Dularge states that her body was found in a lake after the storm, so was named Sister Lake, which is located near Bayou Voisin and Lake Voisin or Voisin Lake, also named for our Voisin family.(I believe that this oral history is from the Dularge branch of Voisins. The storm was on Aug 10th and lasted several days. Rescuers buried many bodies on the island and it is believed that Amelie's body was never found.
In Aug. 17, 1857, Jean Joseph Voisin remarried, Pauline LeBouef and by 1890s he died and was buried in Plaquemines parish, I don't have the cemetery name handy but his grave is believed to have been taken by the Miss. River many years ago. It is on the west bank of the river in a catholic cemetery.
Keep in touch. Please find out for me who gave you the oral history of this family. It is quite important for us to accumulate and investigate all stories. Thanks TVH
