I'm trying to find out more about the Vogelsang side of my family, with whom we have largely lost touch (though we still get invites to the reunions), and I think we're talking about the same people.
My info is different in a few regards - I have John Henry (who must be Heinrich Johann) arriving in Baltimore in the 1830s, fighting in the Mexican War in the 1840s, and marrying Anna Elizabeth Vennigerholz on 10 Feb 1857, after they met in California. Their first child (of 10) was indeed Henry George, born in Dec 1857, died in a railroad accident in 1903. My great-grandfather was Harry Cleveland, who had a sister named Hazel. Sorry, I don't know anything about John Henry's family except that his father fought in the Napoleonic Wars in Spain.
Somehow, my branch ended up back in Maryland. I'd love to compare notes - do either of you have a webpage? I should get one soon. Thanks,

-Whitney Treseder
