I am searching for my great grandfather, Bernhard Vogel, who was born 22 Aug 1830 in Germany and died 23 Jun 1896 in Rogersville, Hawkins, TN married Margaret Matilda Lane, 14 Sep 1876 also in Rogersville. He was a owner of a tabacco farm and his old homestead is still in Rogersville, although all the children are now passed away.He and Margaret had 7 children. Anyone, have any info sure would be happy to exchange what ever I may have,etc. Bernhard was thought to have come over form Lorraine part of France and had a brother Arnold Vogel who never married and he died by having his horse run away from him and it killed him. Bernhard was a German descent but naturalized as French, how whole family came over and his father was also named Bernhard and he returned to the mother country. Bernhard was a small man. This information was given by his daughter Bessie before she passed away. Bernhard was a small man. He had several sisters, very secluded, he died of heart trouble. He came to America when he was about 14 years of age. He should have family in PA. He was a mercantile store owner, and a Mason. He even had his own money made for those working on his land. Help!
