Hi, I've just found your message here, I've had one posted on the Vowden board for a while, but hadn't thought to check here. Anyway, I have an ancestor, Thomas Vowden, who was born in Black Torrington c1832 and who married in 1860. Could Black Torrington be the Torrington where your ancestor was from? I don't think he is connected immeadiately to your family as I've traced his decendents to other parts of Devon. Hope that may help, K Amos.
