I came across these messages today while browsing. Thomas and Annie (Brockest) Vodden are my grandparents and Harold was my father. They did indeed live in Ethel, Grey Township, Huron County, Ontario. Thomas was the son of Robert Vodden and Mary Dyment. the former couple are buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Ethel. Robert and Mary are buried in Elma Centre Cemetery near Atwood, Ontario.
I don't know about whether my grandfather donated the land for the cemetery. He was quite an entreprenuer, having owned several farms and business places in and around Ethel at various times. He owned an operated the Hotel at one time and also operated a bakery in the village.
