Hi Judith,

Thanks for the reply! Sorry for the confusion. What I mean to say in my last posting was that another scenario is that Lucy Vivion could be the mother of all the Davis Children or Lucy Baber could be the mother of all the Davis children, of course NOT at the same time.

The two Lucy Vivions that are of interest are Lucy Vivion [Lucy #1] daughter of John Vivion & Martha Gholson, and Lucy Vivion [Lucy #2], daughter of John Vivion & Mary Durrett.

Lucy #1 married John Pemberton. Some researchers have her born in 1785 and dying in 1829 in Fulton Callaway Co., MO. These dates are not correct as her first born child, Fanny Pemerton was born in 1793. I have Lucy (Vivion) Pemberton's birth closer to 1771. The 1829 death is also not correct as she died in 1845 in Boone Co., MO. We can therefore elimate her as being a possible wife of Matthew Davis.

For Lucy #2, the 1785 & 1829 (birth & death dates) appear to be correct, so this would be the Lucy Vivion to concentrate on. "IF" she was the wife of Matthew Davis, I do not feel she died in Callaway Co., MO, but rather in Clark Co., KY as Matthew Davis was still residing in Clark Co., KY in 1830.

The Obadiah Davis (son of Matthew Davis), born 31 July 1804 does make sense since he would have been born about 1 year after the marriage of Matthew Davis & Lucy Baber. If there was no Obadiah Davis, then the next born child Rachel, was not born until July 1805 which would mean that it was two years before they had any children, which is possible, but I think that having a child one year after marriage makes more sense.

What concerns me is that Clark County [KY] marriage records do exist for the time frame we are interested in, but I have not been able to find one of Matthew Davis and Lucy Vivion.

Thanks again!
David Stielow
