What exactly does "imported" mean, and how is that John Vivion connected to the one that follows?

Thomas Vivion (1629/31-1670)

from Of Radnor, Cheshire, died in Isle of Wight, Virginia .
He married Mary Vivion. Mary was born in Of Radnor, Cheshire, England 1633.
At 24 years of age Thomas became the father of John (Sr.) Vivion in Middlesex, Virginia, 1655.
Thomas Vivion and Mary Vivion had the following family:
2 i. Joel2 Vivion.
3 ii. William Vivion.
4 iii. Robert Vivion.
+ 5 iv. John (Sr.) Vivion was born 1655.
