You mentioned that you would like to connect to other Vivian families. I was born Jesse Charles Vivian but somehow my name was switched to Charles Jesse when I started school in 1955. My relatives lived in Missouri but I was born and raised in Chicago. My Dad, Willus Everett Vivian, was born in Alton, Illinois. His dad was named Jesse Charles. Jesse Charles had 10 brothers and many of them settled in Michigan. I can only find record of a few of them. They were born in the mid 1880s and were named Richard, Tommy (Thomas), and Peter. My dad tells me that Jesse was half Native American. You may also find it interesting that my branch of the Vivian tree is African American and racially mixed in recent generations. I only research on weekends but I always check this site.

I have just taken up geneology as a hobby and find it facinating.
