Thank you for your response. In searching for this family I found on the 1880 US census A John T. Vivian with Elizabeth J. Their brood of 5 children included Kittie A.
I know nothing about my g-g-grandfather Vivan other than his sir name. I do know that that my g-g-grandmother was Jane O'Neal or O'Neil. These were the parents of my g-grandmother Katherine Anne (Vivian) Southall, who went by the nickname Kittie.
Unless there was another family of Vivians,in Carrizo Springs at that time, with a child called Kittie, I would think this is the same family. In fact I looked no further when I spotted Kittie and Elizabeth J(JANE?)I felt certain I had found them.
On the 1900 census I found Kittie married to JOHN SOUTHALL and my grandmother, Jessie C.was listed among the children. ElizabethJ.Vivian was living at the nextdoor address, with her daughter Sallie Fisher. Both were widowed. Sallie Fisher's daughters Ninnie ,20,and her daughter Mittie,15,also lived with them. Sallie fisher was the widow of the infamous cowboy, King Fisher, according to my aunt.
Are we talking about the same Vivians? I have no doubt that you are right because you knew that the wife's name was O'Neil.
My mother remembered her grandma Vivian well. Somewhere in the family there is a photo of her on her 100th birthday, They loved to tell the story of how she threaded a needle with her "naked" eye. Meaning that she did not require glasses, and she was 100 y/o.
I hope to hear more from you as I know nothing about the origens of my VIVIAN ancestory.
Thanks so much.
