Thank you for your input on this subject. What do you have concerning Margaret SMITH? How do you figure she is involved in Capt. John SMITH? I ask because many descendants I know have her listed as John VIVION I's wife vice Diana Cummings? I have Margaret and John listed being married about 1680 at Christ Church, Middlesex County, Virginia.

Records I've seen also state that Garrett MINOR married Diana VIVION, but she was the daughter of John Vivion I and Margaret Smith vice Diana Cummings.

I want be sure that you understand, in know way do I dispute what you have in your research! This is the reason I posted this question. From the replies I've received, both here and personal email, it seems as if descendants are torn as to who was the wife of John VIVION I. I fear we may never know proof positive. For sure Diana was very involved in the life of John VIVION.

This is the record used as proof of John and Margaret.

Middlesex Deed dated 7/5/1680 John Smith to bro-in-law John Vivion and wife Margaret "my sister" 100 acres then at their death to John
Vivion JR, their son.

Thank you for your help.
Mike
