I have just seen your old query on you Vise family.
I think that your Samuel Lewis Vice is the son of John Vice and Margaret Bumgarner of Bath County, Kentucky, they married there 26 Sept. 1818.
Samuel Lewis was married to Catharine Jane Hornback 26 February 1845 in Aberdeen, Ohio. By 1850 he was living in Macon County, Illinois. At that time he had the following children: Elizabeth age 5; Margaret age 3; Isaac age 1.
I believe the Vice family is English. Have not heard of the Jewish decent and would certainly be interested in learning more and sharing what I know on the Kentucky Vice families
