St. Thomas Vital Records from 1850's?

My g-g-grandfather, Henrik Kleinholt Nielsen GYLLING, was apparently born on 29-May-1858 and died on 20-July-1893 on St. Thomas Island, according to FamilySearch.org. According to the government website, birth and death records this old are NOT available. Does anyone have ANY suggestions on how I can obtain a copy of Henrik's birth and death certificates? Thanks!!
