Item one: I think Sept 1893 refers to the quarter rather than the month, I am sorry, I should have said so.
Item two: I cannot tell you any more about Thomas Vipond or his father John, and am unlikely ever so to do. My interest in Ellen is only through her mother, who had several children by different fathers, my Great Grandfather was a younger half-brother of Ellen.
Thomas Vipond, as I think I said, probably died before 1881, if not even earlier. I have only the information I have given to you and thought it useful to share with you.
