Allen Vinson b. 1812 in South Carolina married Mary Paine in 1847. The census from 1850 on until after 1880 has the same Mary as his wife. She is in the 1900 census as a widow.
But if the Alabama marriage records are correct, Allen came to the marriage with five children. The first two were born in South Carolina, the next two in Tennessee and the last one in Alabama. That youngest one was listed as 6 years old in the 1850 census, suggesting that his first wife died between 1844 and 1847. Who was she? And any thing else about her would be great! I am descended from Ann E Vinson born in 1842 or 1843 in Tennessee.
