I do not have anything on that person, but wondered if this might fit into the picture somewhere.
RV7 - James Vining/Dyer b1648 Wincanton Parish,Somerset,England (Source: Rootsweb Files) (alias Dier/Dyer). He was the grandson of John Vining, his father's father. It is assumed that the namesake of James is Sir James Dier 1512 - 1582, father of his mother.
