I'll start from "my" Franciso Villegas got back to him and his wife's parents, then I'll jump forward.I'll try and guess a couple of dates based on my grandfather's age at death (born 7/29/1899 died 8/18/43):
Francisco Villegas Arbelaez married
Elvira Arango - Londono
(they were probably born somewhere around 1870-1875)
Franciso noted above was a native of Spain as I said before and was a coffee broker.By ommission I could possiby make an assumption Elvira Arango was born in Colombia, either way my brief records indicate they are both buried there.
Franciso Villegas's parents were:
Ismael Villegas & Mercedes Arbelaez (implied to be both from Spain)
My great grandmother Elvira Arango - Londono's parents were:
Alfasano(?) Arango and
Carmelita Londono
all probably born around 1845-1850?
OK, now I'll go forward to the sons and daughters of Francisco Villegas.I will tell you that at one time it was mentioned that My great grandfather had a total over time of three wives totalling 18 children.I only know of this as a rumor and only have the following tree:
Children:
1) Juan Villegas-Arango (my grandfather)
2) Elvira Villegas-Arango who married Francisco Salazar and they had no children
3) Mercedes Villegas-Arango married Laureano Calle and had 10(?) children one is single and I'll assume to be a miscarriage; one I cannot read kind of blacked out, one is a whole branch of that tree and is blacked out ? Don't know what that means. One of their children, Elvira Calle Villegas, I met in the late 70's, one of my Mom's cousins, all I knew is she owned? an all girls schools (think in Bogota), was very sweet, looked alot like my Mom does know, and seemed to have alot of money.
4) Franciso Villegas-Arango married Mes(?) Les....? (no children)
5) Adela Villegas Arango married Horacio Gomez Robeldo
6) Abel Villegas Arango married Dora Duque
As far as I know Abel and my grandfather were the only siblings to come and stay in the states, my grandfather was a medicaldoctor and Abel or maybe it was his son was a White House translator for Reagan.
Interesting note, one of the sisters, (Cannot find the article as yet) married Eduardo Santos, President of Colombia in the 50's.
Unfortunately, it's very hard to read the children of all of the above but I do not see any Guiterrez's nor can I find an Elcias.
I'll keep your address should I come up with more information. Please do the same for me and let me know if any of the above fits into your "puzzle".
Unfortunately, when my grandfather died there was not any family support put forth so I assume he was looked down upon for marrying an American woman, but I'm just guessing.
