Hello, My father's maternal family belongs to the Villanueva Clan of Bais city. In fact as a kid we would go and visit our relatives and the sugarcane plantation at siokon, bais city. But since 1994 I lost contact with my father's family. We also used to be visited by our relatives from the Villanueva branch of dumaguete but the last time I saw them was in early 90's and I've heard from my mother that so and so died. All I could remember of my grand aunts is their strong basque features and strict rules. I would also hear them talk in spanish. But that was when I was still in grade school. The only link am connected to is the Gonzales family of valencia, negros oriental where my mother's side is from, whose matriarch is a villanueva and a first cousin of my father. Currently, one of her children is the town mayor and the other a town councilor. I was also told in early 2000 that the LTO Chief of Dumaguete was a relative of mine. Recently I was also informed that the present mayor of bais is also a member of the clan. My other dream is to get in touch with the balagtas side of my father's family....
