Hi Hewitt, My name is Shirley Velasquez-Frazier.My Dad was Ramon Velasquez and his Mother was Sarita Vigil-Velasquez.
My Grandmother was Sarita Vigil-Velasquez. She was married to Jose Diego Velasquez.Grandma Sarita had three sisters and two brothers. Her sisters were Jualanita, Isebelita, and Josephina and her brother's were Eusibo and Leandro.Grandma Sarita parents were my Great Grandparents,Donacino Vigil and Juanita C de Vigil. (the C stands for Cortez).gggrandmother Juanita died January 2, 1935.Grandma Sarita did not record her fathers death.Aunt Isebelita married Andres Griego and she was motherto Uncle George and Uncle Amadeo. She died when her children were still young and Aunt Jualanita took over raising them.AuntIsebelita was Theresa and Andy Griego's Grandmother.Aunt Julianita never married and she was according to Uncle Onisemo Velasquez was quite a woman (ahead of her time. because she owned land and a home of her own, without having married). She raised Uncle George and Uncle Amadeo Griego on her own.
Cousin Bernadette Velasquez, who is Uncle Onisemo daugher knew some of them and grew up with them.Their father remarried and had another family, and Bernadette Velasquez - Sanchez) know some of them pretty good. They used to live next door to my uncle George in Weston, Colorado. Our Aunt Julianita left her land to Uncle George and Uncle Amadeo, it was up Wet canyon and they called it Molino. Our Aunt Clara still owns the land. The family (our grandma and the rest of her family) as a whole were allowed to use the land to plant vegetables or animal feed and they kept the horses up there. They also brought their wood from up there. Bernadette's dad (Onie Velasquez) said she was like our grandma was with her generosity and very devout like our Grandma Sarita and Aunt Josephina.Aunt Arcilia lived right up the hill from the river where Joe Trujillo and his family lived when I was growing up. Uncle Eusebio, has a son named Abe Vigi. He worked at the American embassy in Mexico and is now retired. Uncle Leandro married Aunt Maggea. The Vigil family was closer to my Uncle Onie's family.I,Shirley was very young when we moved from Weston, Colorado and I don't remember them much.My cousin Bernadette was the one who gave me most of this information.Hope this helped you.
God Bless Shirley
