Do NOT send records

In Reply to: How you can Help Other Vets with their missing records... by angela suarez of 1009

As Decmay stated in her followup, do NOT follow this advice. NARA will not, and cannot place any documents of any kind in a Personnel File unless it comes from the associated Service.

This "American War Library" has been debunked and shown to be a scam for years now. Their Roger Simpson (and Phil Coleman) are merely a string of aliases used to lure Veterans and families into their Pay for Information website. Simpson is known for posting these kinds of messages under an alias - I sure hope that's not you Angela.

Do NOT download the War Library software. You will need to fill out a questionnaire - and they sell your name to advertisers and you'll be flooded with emails. This advertisement (re: document sending) is just another of his numerous lures to get you to his website.

While the fire did affect some Army/AF records - the large majority were for men discharged before 1960..and have little effect on VN veterans.
