The website is no-quarter.org. It has an advanced search option. The more info you have the better your chances.
I was in the 28th Inf Rgt of the Ist Inf Div., if Fred was in the 28th, we have a website (28thInfanrty.org) there is a casualty list and a message board for people trying to find out info of their relatives.
Here are some other Ist Inf Div regimental websites.
2ndInfantry.org, 16thInfantry.org, 18thInfantry.org26thInfantry.org.
If Fred wasn't in the infantry, but in the Ist Inf Div, here is a list of the supporting units. I don't know their website addresses, but you can probably google them.
Ist Avation Bn, Ist Engineer Bn, 1st Ssquad, 4th Cav.
1st BN 5th Artillery, 1st Bn 7th Artillery,
2nd Bn 33rd Artillery, 8th Bn 6th Artillery,
6th BN 15th Artillery, 1st Brigade, 2nd Brigade,
3rd Brigade, Division Artillery, Support Command,
HQ &HQ Co Ist Admin company, 1st MP Company,
1st Medical BN, 1st S&T Bn, 701st Maintenance Bn,
121st Signal Bn....
These were all units that served in Vietnam under the umbrella of the Ist Inf Div..
Some of the other Divisions in Vietnam in 1967 were the 4th INf Div, the 101st Airborne Div, the 173rd Airborne Div & the 25th Inf Div.
If Fred was a Marine, I don't know much about their units, you can try googling Marine units in Vietnam in 1967.
Good luck in your search, hope this info is useful.
