1968 North Carolina obituary: Sgt. Anderson Linwood Ruderson (KIA Vietnam)

The following obituary just happened to be on the same page as the obit of one of my wife's uncles.

NOTE: Photo shows Sgt. Ruderson to be afro-american.

Published "High Point Enterprise", High Point, Guilford County, North Carolina, Thursday, January 25, 1968, page 10B, col. 3.

SGT. A. L. RUDERSON

Funeral for Sgt. Anderson
Linwood Ruderson will be con-
ducted Friday at 3 p.m. at
Foster Grove Baptist Church,
Jamestown, by an Army Chap-
lin. Burial will be in Greenhll
Cemetery with full military
rites. The body arrived in High
Point today and was taken to
Moore Funeral Home. The body
will remain at the funeral home
until the funeral and the family
will be there tonight from 7
to 9 o'clock.
Sgt. Ruderson, 23, of the U.S.
Army and 422 Robbins Ave.,
Jamestown, died Jan. 13 in Viet-
nam from gunshot wounds re-
ceived in a battle.

LUIE RUDERSON

Word was recieved here of
the death of Luie Ruderson,
76, of Gaffney, S. C. He died
Tuesday in Cherokee Memorial
Hospital, Gaffney. He was the
grandfather of Sgt. Anderson
L. Ruderson, who was killed
in Vietnam.
Survivors include one son,
Jessie Ruderson of 509 Henry
St.; two daughters, Mrs. Cath-
erine Raeford of 1309 Cedrow
Ave. and Mrs. Julia Hicks of
422 Robbin Ave., Jamestown;
one brother, Leroy Smith of
1007 W. Green Dr.; one grand-
daughter; and two great-grand-
children.
Funeral will be held Sunday
in Gaffney, S. C. The body is
at Gilmore Funeral Home in
Gaffney.
