Anna Dirks vs Marritjen Jens
Anne Dirks - Anna Dirksor Marritjen Jens ?
I don't usually put much weight on the Pre-New Amsterdam Era History of Cornelius Volkertszen Viele - before coming to any conclusions I'd rather go there and research myself - though I'm not sure what is available.
Still - the person pointed out to me that some people online have noted the Cornelius Volkertszen's mother was Anna Dirks while others have Marritjens.
When I looked at what people had published and what they noted as there sources - I noticed that most people were on the Anna Dirks side of things.
The majority of folks seem to have -
His Father - Volkert Seylemaecker
Birth 4 MAR 1542 in Medmblik, Noorn,Netherlands
Death 4 DEC 1618 in Noorn,Netherlands
His Mother - Anna Dirks born 154 - Medemblik, Netherlands
One person had Marritjen Jen's date of birth as 1598 while having her date of marriage as 1605 - a rather young bride of 7ish.Though others had Grand Pop Cornelius' father dying in 1591 - so it would seem not only did he robe the cradle he did if from his crypt.
One source writes:Volkert Maertense Seylemaecker was born on March 4, 1542 in Medemblik, North Holland, Netherlands.Volkert married Anna Dirks on October 20, 1464 in Medemblik, North Holland, Netherlands.Volkert died on December 4, 1618 in Hoorn, North Holland, Netherlands.Anna died in 1605 in Medemblik, North Holland, Netherlands.
I think they must have meant 1564 - ?
Does anyone know if any of this is based on anything factual - on proven records? My suspicion is that somehow a little bit of all if is founded in good intention - perhaps Marritjens Jens married a different Viele with a very similar name in another generations way back when - and considering they didn't use last names back then and after someone published the wrong info - it eventually got all mixed up.
Does anyone have any records they can point to about who Cornelius Volkertszen's mother really was?I'm just curious......
THANKS - Mark
