Mathew Hannah (b. ca 1786, Lincoln, Eng., d. 15 Dec 1849, Milton, Santa Rosa County,FL) came to Pensacola, Spanish Florida, from England about 1810. He was an agent for John Forbes & Co. (successor to Panton Leslie Co.) British traders, until at least 1818. He worked for John Innerarrity. In 1815-1816 he bought several city lots in Pensacola jointly with Josefa Lavalle, the Widow McPherson.

Before 1820, he married Sarah Putnam,(b 1795)in Pensacola or Columbus, GA. They had 2 children; John Putnam Hannah (1821-1863)and Sarah Jane, who died young. Mathew's wife, Sarah Putnam Hannah, died 18 Oct 1823 in Pensacola, only 28 years old.

On 1 Nov 1826 Mathew Hannah married Florencia Paula Noverta Vidal (b. ca 1810) in Pensacola. Their children were: Philip, Sarah, Thomas, Matthew, and Mary.

I would appreciate any information on these Hannahs, Putnam, or Vidal lines. Also the Josefa Lavalle/widow McPherson lady. Mathew Hannah is my ggg grandfather and I have information to share. My email is jlipe@nwlink.com Thank you.
