Gore Vidal relatives & Lineage

Hello, I just found some geneology notes from my late mother's documents.

We had alwaysw been told that we are close relatives of Gore Vidal, but never new the details. Here is what my mother wrote. I can not vouch for their accuracy, but any help from others for whom this may ring some bells will be very much appreciated:

My Grandfather was Carlo Vidal (he change it to Vidali when he came to the US, some time between the turn of the 1900's to 1923) He was from Trieste Italy and claimed to be part French and Slav, as well as Italian. The rest of this particular paragraph is true to my knowledge and been confirmed by records and other family members. Carlo Vidal married my grandmother, Ida Rizzutto (Rizutto) aroung 1924. Ida was born in 1910 or 1911 and was only about 13 or 14 when she had my mother. My mother Emma (later she changed her name to Linda) was born on Oct. 8th, 1924. My grandmother's father (my maternal great grandfather) was Joe Rizzutto and was a Mafia Don during the 20's and 30's.

The following is again from my mother's notes:

My Great Grandfather (Carlo Vidal's father) was Gore Vidal's father's brother, in other words he was Gore Vidal's paternal uncle and my grandfather's first cousin.

Some time in Italy my Grandfather, Carlo Vidal and Gore's family had a disagreement which is standing to this day, I beleive.

The last note I have is that my grandfather had a brother named Pino and that he was in the Navy, possibly a captain. My grandfather may have had 4 brothers in total.
