Dear Mr. Bergerlind:
I do not know if this will help at all, but my grand father was born in Sweden and went to live in Portugal at the end of the 19th. century. He left family in Sweden, but I never knew their names, altough I do know he was living in Upsala, and probably was born there, when emigrated.
His name was Joachin Vidal and was a Jew.
According to him,his family were Jewish and lived in Aragon, Spain, until his great whatever father integrated, as a young officer, in the Napoleonic Army and followed his comanding officer to Sweden. It seems that his C.O. was called Bernardotte and become King of Sweden. Thats all I know, as I was very young and not much interested, then, on this type of things.
I emigrated in the sixties to the U.K. and become a British citizen, following the emigration rootes of my Vidal family.
Hope you find more about the Vidal genealogy.
Compliments.
A. F.-Vidal
