Hi Andy:

Not sure about Emeric Essex Vidal, but Alexander Thomas Vidal and Richard E. Vidal wound up in Canada. I believe (but don't quote me) that Alexander Thomas settled in Quebec City. However, I know for a fact that Richard Emeric settled in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada in the early 1830s. Indeed, he was one of the founders of that city. Richard, a former British naval officer, retired on half-pay. Sarnia has a street named Vidal and number of others named after various family members. Alfred Essex, a relative of the Vidals, also settled in Sarnia. He was a pharmacist and Essex Street, the street on which I grew up, was named after him. Do you descend from Alfred?

Cheers,

Glen
