Utica Daily Press...Monday morning, November 28, 1898 Died Victory---In Whitesboro, N. Y., Saturday, November 26, 1898, Wesley Victory, aged 63 years, 3 months and 2 days. Wesley Victory Wesley Victory died Saturday afternoon at his home in Whitesboro, aged 63 years. He had always lived in Whitesboro, received his early education there and in that village built up the successful grocery business which is now conducted by his son, Henry. Mr. Victory was a devoted member of the Baptist Church and a remarkably faithful attendant at services. He was one of the most highly respected residents of Whitesboro. Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Henry H. and Edward, both of Whitesboro. Utica Daily Press...Saturday, December 12, 1925 Mrs. Mary A. Victory, Dead In Whitesboro, Complication Causes Death, Had Lived In Old Homestead Mor Than 60 Years Whitesboro, Dec 11---Mary A., widow of Wesley Victory, died at the old homestead on Foster Street Friday afternoon, following a week's illness with a complication of diseases. She had lived in the house in which she died for more than 60 years. Mrs. Victory was born in Phratstore, North Hamptonshire, Eng., July 10, 1839, and came to this country and to Walesville with her parents when she was 9 years of age. Nine years later she was married, the couple moved to this village, and her home had been here since. She attended the First Baptist Church. Two sons, Henry H. and Edmund A., both of this village, survive. She also leaves two grandchildren, Mrs. Walter E. Kernan and Henry E. Victory. (Note: as per her brother's obituary...their father died in England while preparing to emigrate to the U. S. and they came to Willowvale where their mother's sister lived) Utica Daily Press...Monday, December 14, 1925 DIED Victory---Entered into rest at Whitesboro, N. Y., Friday, December 11, 1925, Mary A. Keene, wife of the late Wesley Victory, aged 86 years, 5 months, and 12 days. Funeral from her late home 17 Foster Street this (Monday) afternoon at 2 o'clock. Friends are respectfully invited. Utica Daily Press...Monday, March 4, 1940 Henry H. Victory Henry H. Victory, 82, a real estate dealer in Utica and Whitesboro for many years, died Saturday in St. Petersburg, Fla., where he had been active in the real estate and business fields since the beginning of the land boom there. Victory was in the grocery business before dealing in real estate. He had made his home in St. Petersburg with Mrs. Victory. They visited this section about three years ago. Burial services will be conducted in Whitesboro in the spring. Utica Daily Press...Thursday morning, August 25, 1898 Died Pelow---In Whitesboro, N.Y., Wednesday, August 24, 1898, Gertrude Victory, wife of Fred Pelow, aged 20 years and 4 days. Friends are invited to attend the funeral services from the residence of her father, Wesley Victory, to-morrow (Friday) afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Gertrude Victory Pelow Yesterday morning at her home in Whitesboro occured the death of Gertrude Victory Pelow, aged 20 years. She was the only daughter of Wesley and Mary Victory. Born in Whitesboro, she was educated in the schools of that village and had always resided there. About a year ago she was married to Frederick Pelow, who, with an infant child, survives. She is also survived by her parents, Wesley and Mary Victory, and two brothers, H. H. and Edward Victory, all of Whitesboro. She was a young lady of excellent attainments and pocessed a most cheerful and pleasing disposition. Her death comes as a sad blow to many, for all who knew her were her friends. The funeral services will be held to-morrow at 2 p. m. from her late residence on Foster street. Utica Daily Press...Saturday morning, August 27, 1898 Funerals There was a very large attendence at the funeral of Mrs. Gertrude Pelow which was held at the residence of her father, Wesley Victory, on Foster street, Whitesboro, yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The remains rested in a casket of steel grey. The floral tributes were magnificent, a fitting token to the high esteem in which she was held in the community. The pastor of the Methodist Church officiated, assisted by Rev. Kneeland, pastor of the Baptist Church. The bearers were Frank Wells, Will Albro, John Ferguson, and John Stephenson Utica Observer-Dispatch...Wednesday evening, July 7, 1939 Edward A. Victory Whitesboro---Edward A. Victory, lifelong resident of Whitesboro, died in a Utica hospital Monday, July 3, 1939, after a long illness. He was born in Whitesboro, Mar. 18, 1880, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Victory and attended local schools. When a young man he entered the employ of his brother, Henry H. Victory, who then conducted a grocery store here. After his brother entered the real estate business, Edward Victory was employed in other stores here, in Utica and elsewhere. For years he operated a tea and coffee route for a national corporation. He married the former Blanche Smith of Herkimer about 30 years ago. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, one son, Henry, in Texas; and a brother, Henry, St. Petersburg, Fla. Utica Observer-Dispatch...Thursday evening, July 6, 1939 Funeral of Mr. Victory Whitesboro---The funeral of Edward A. Victory was conducted at his late home, 17 Foster, Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. Fred White, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated. The bearers were Samuel Humphrey, Stewart Baker, Linn Kennedy, Albert Worden, Milton Roberts, and Edmund Worden.
