Thank you for your response..

My g-grandfather was Vernon Vickers, son of James L.Vickers and Eliza A. Vickers..

I do have Caleb in Williamson in 1860 with wife Sarah...

In 1870 I found **C.B.** Vickers in Atascosa Texas with wife Sarah E. Vickers and children including James L. Vickers who was age 12 at the time..

It shows Caleb was born in Illinois in 1839..
James L. born Texas..
Vernon born Texas..

I don't suppose you know yet who Silas and Caleb's parents were?

Family lore says James L. Vickers came to Oklahoma to look for land, and brought or may have brought son Vernon with him.. My g-grandmother was born here in Oklahoma, and at some point either in Oklahoma or Texas, she and Vernon met..Their union produced my grandmother..

But it is also said that Vernon had another child born in Oklahoma, named James.. I have found at least one James who could possibly be him, but no way to know for certain..Census shows in 1920 an 80 year old James "R"(?) Vickers in Hastings, Jefferson, Oklahoma with wife Susan, age 65..There are 3 girls and one boy in the household, probably grandchildren as they range in age from 16 down to age 5. The 5 yr old is named James Vickers..
If any of this rings any bells, please let me know, as I would love to find the James Vickers who was son of Vernon..
