I am seeking info on my gg grandfather, John Vickers, whose birthplace is given variously as TN and AL. John married Martha Brantly Dec. 22, 1842 in Hardeman, TN. By 1846 the family was in Texas. In 1860 they lived in Burnet county, TX. In 1870 and 1880 they were in AZ. Martha died in AZ and John returned to Burnet county. He remarried, made a will and died in the 1890's. I cannot determine his parents.
I have this info:
Masonic Grand Lodge Library and Museum of Texas Records show that John Vickers was initiated into the Masonic Lodge at Ruthvin Lodge # 248 located at Tate-Wooten Store in Backbone Valley, TX in 1863. In 1865 John Vickers became a charter member of the Henry Thomas Lodge located at Smithwick, TX. He is shown as a member of Wm C Young Lodge # 349 located in Elizabeth (?), having affliliated 5/26/1877. This documents his presense in Texas in 1877. He was suspended 4/1/82, which may indicate his being in another state.
