I have been doing genealogy for many years, but haven't worked on this particular line until now. I've had my DNA tested, and am now concentrating on my matrilineal women - my mother's mother's.....mother....and in this line five generations back is Prudence Vickers, b. abt. 1805 in Georgia. She married Riley Wise in 1824 in Georgia and had (to my knowledge) nine children: Rutha, Walter J., Sarah, Jane (my gr-gr-grandmother), Robert, Mary, Rosanna, John and William R.
Riley Wise died in 1848 and Prudence remained a widow, head of household in the subsequent censuses and still a "farmer." In the 1850 census, Prudence is 45 with six of her children still at home, and Sarah Vickers (her mother) age 67 living with her.
That is all I know of the Vickers line, and I really want to know more. For instance, what was Sarah's maiden name? What was Prudence's father's name? Where did they come from?
If there is anyone who can help me connect Prudence with her family, I'd love to hear from you.
