Regarding Charles Vick's adoption, we had assumed he was adopted from a family story that was handed down. I've now found a 1901 obituary for his mother, Mrs William Vick of Wyandotte, MI saying she was survivied by her adopted son Charles among others. I can email the article to you if you'd like - just give me a few days and your email address.
