Vian name origins, England/France

I've done enough research lately to know that the Vian family seems to have very deep and old origins in two maybe three country's. The Vian family that originated with John Vian came from the Cornwall area, most likely Liskeard and was the son of William and Hannah Vian. The earliest date I have found for a Vian in England is approxamately 1565. There is another Vian line that runs in France with dates originating almost to this date. It poses a couple of questions: 1) Did the Vian lines between the French and English crop up simultaneously? If so, how? If not, who immigrated to where and when? (England to France, or France to England.) I can see a case for any of the above possibilities. The Vian family name in England has a couple of variations that are very "English" so "Vian" may actually be a variation of an earlier name. Variations include: Vyon, Vianne, Vyan, Viand, Viant, etc. I have even found instances of the the same person using two different spellings: Vian and Vyan. In France, I have yet to find a variation on the spelling. Not sure why. If any one has any other information I sure would love to see it. I am trying to begin a Vian family website. It may take a few months, but if you would like to be put on a Vian family mailing list, let me know. God Bless.
