It's a while since I commented on the Newcastle branch but I've been in touch with Gail Lowe and Elaine Crane who have ancestors which hailed from Rawcliffe. I mentioned earlier about Benjamin R. Vevers a seaman from South Shields, born in Middlesex. Between us we've worked out that this Benjamin was the son of William Vevers from Rawcliffe who went to London and married Harriet Sarah, had several children then came back to Rawcliffe. I imagine Benjamin started out his seafaring career on the Humber rather than the Thames.

Also in the GRO listings I've found a Toward Vevers, who died 9 years old in December quarter 1868 in Carlisle.

Does any of this help?
