I have noticed on Ancestry.com their are a number of Family Trees for Charles W. Vest but none seem to be the correct one for you. There are a couple of them that have Charles married to Guthrie, which seems possible to the correct family you are looking for but . . . see below the dates Do Not Match Up.

I have searched for Charles, using only the last name Vest with and without a year of birth, searched in Nebraska and Iowa. also tried searching using the last of West and found nothing. Reason for searching West, I was looking for a Vest ancestor and picked up a Census sheet I had in front of me and their he was listed as a West and not a Vest.
Don't think I was much help.
