I don't have any information concerning these particular children but I think we are possibly researching the same Vest family line. My father was Dallas F Vest son of Richard Vest and Zorah Lillian Miskell from Henry County, KY. I recently found Richard's WWI draft registration card where he lists his birth date as October 6, 1882. He died Dec. 24, 1963. The brick wall I am having is establishing his parents. On Ancestry.com most people have his birthdate as 1864 and Zerrobable and Christena Derringer as his parents. That can't be so. My father told me that he thought his g-father was Andrew Jackson Vest and that Andrew served in the Civil War on the Union side. It has been a consistent family story that Richard's parents died in the cholera epidemic and that Richard was on an orphan train. I found last night on Rootsweb that Andrew son of Zerro died in 1891 in Henry County, so how can he be Richard's father if Richard suupposedly was a rider? I have a school record when Richard was 15 showing that James Rodgers of Blackwell was his guardian. At 17, he was a laborer on the Lindsey Craigmyles farm and is on the 1900 census in Yest.
Maybe you can help me to find the parents of Richard Vest.
